Goong Korean Restaurant@ 101 Premier

I am a fan of anything Korean, and absolutely love Korean cuisine. Often, I find myself having these deep cravings for korean food and would soon be out and about to satisfy those needs! This Korean restaurant Goong popped up in Kuching in 2012, and I was so glad to be able to visit this place recently.

Their menu is quite extensive, but I honestly think that it doesn't hurt to have more! (I'm greedy). Since they were only the two of us that night, we couldn't order much, hence we settled for a bowl of cha jiang myun, bi bim bap and beef bulgogi (medium).

Firstly, the side dishes came, and boy, did it make me smile.
Side Dishes - Egg Roll, Kimchi, Potato Salad and other preserved vegetables

However, I am not a fan of their pickled vegetables, somehow, the taste can't be compared to the ones you will get in Korean Restaurants in KL or Melbourne.

Next up, Cha Jiang Myun (Rm 11). The Cha Jiang Myun that this restaurant serve is what my korean fanatic friends say, is almost like the real deal! It's only ALMOST as the real deal as of course, the real deal can only be found in KOREA itself. But I can officially declare this is my favourite Cha Jiang Myun in Kuching City as it is GOOD!
Cha Jiang Myun (THICK)

This is the Thick version as the sauce itself is THICK as can be seen above. Then, pour this lovely thick sauce onto the long stringy noodles as shown below.

And Ta Da, its time to eat. The amount of sauce given is JUST RIGHT, giving the noodles the right amount of coating, making it delicious, and not TOO tasty. The fresh cucumbers which is a must for Cha Jiang Myun cuts through the oily sauce giving this dish the overall balance that it needs. Not forgetting the yellow pickles that must be accompanied when consuming these noodles (not shown here).

Next, Beef bulgogi (approx Rm 30). It comes in different sizes, but I think from memory, we ordered the smaller one.

I love this dish as well! One thing I like about this dish, is the generous amount of Enoki mushrooms, I really hope they keep it up! The meat is not too fatty as well so I actually feel happy paying to eat this dish. This is so as in some restaurants, I actually feel like I am paying to eat FATS. But here, this Bulgogi dish definitely does not disappoint. The meat is well marinated, therefore, should be accompanied with rice.
Last but not least,  BI BIM BAP (Rm 18)!
Bi Bim Bap (RM 18)
Look at that egg yolk goodness, its my favourite part of this dish. The gooeyness of it coats the rice nicely, and after giving the rice and vegetables a good mix, this bi bim bap is ready to go! The taste is not bad, with a just a right touch of saltiness. Those who are used to slightly more tasty dishes, I suggest eating this with the Bulgogi.

Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience. However, I should warn you that if seated next to the windows, there might be signs of some house spiders (non harmful).

The way the interior is designed gives this restaurant a spacious appearance, however, since the floor isn't carpeted, it can get rather noisy at times!

There are approx two private rooms, so those who want some privacy, can opt for those!

The fried chicken dish there was quite nice as well (Forgot to take a picture) but it comes with quite a hefty price tag of RM 50.

Overall, a good korean restaurant nonetheless!

Verdict: Would come back for a good dose of cha jyang myun! Chicken is somehow quite pricey here.. but it was good! Not quite a fan of their side dishes although there's a lot of variety!

Location: At premier 101 kuching, right next to korean products and Jase's tea room!
