TWG Tea Salon Boutique @ ION Orchard Singapore

I have heard so much about TWG Tea from my colleagues and I guess it is about time for me to try it out. Despite I'm based in Kuala Lumpur and there's one TWG Boutique in Pavillion, I finally had the opportunity to try it out in ION Orchard, Singapore during the CNY.

The vast collection of tea behind the counter amazes me and they have a separate menu just for tea, offering the world's greatest harvest and finest collection of exclusive tea blends.

Frankly speaking, I am more of a Chinese Tea person, not a big fan of English Tea and this visit to TWG Tea had totally changed my mind.

Business was brisk even on a CNY eve where everyone should be home for reunion dinner. My friend and I had to wait for a good 10 minutes before we were ushered to our seat, which is good as I was given ample time to observe and look at the surrounding.

Managed to snap a picture of the chocolates and it looked pretty interesting. You guys should know by now that I have a soft spot for anything Green Tea and TWG Tea offers Green Tea, Raspberry and Caramel Chocolate. I vow to come back for the chocolates for my next trip.

Being indecisive on what to order, the staff politely suggested us to go for the Tea Time Set Menus ($19) where we can choose TWG tea from their extensive tea list. Excited, we settled for Strawberry Tea, 2 homemade scones and 1 patiserrie ($9.50)

• A choice of 2 homemade scones or muffins served with
• TWG Tea jelly and whipped cream or 1 patisserie

Soft buttery scones served warm and I couldn't wait to get my hands on the scones after spreading the jam and cream. Having said that, nothing memorable about the scones and I shall give it a miss in my next visit.

Please note that this is not the right way to eat scones. Scones are meant to be eaten open-faced and should not be eaten like a sandwich/burger. :D

While browsing through the pastries, something caught my attention! It's the Matcha Raspberry Layer Cream Cake and again, I surrendered and have this cake ordered IMMEDIATELY!
Cake of the Day!

Now this is something that I would die for. When it comes to Green Tea, one will immediately think that Green Tea cakes/ pastries pair well with Red Bean but I beg to differ this time. The cake was made well with interesting combination of matcha sponge cake layered with raspberry flavoured fresh cream. I also love the fact that the cake was not overly sweet and it was the fresh Raspberry that left me with a deep impression until now.

Ratings:
Price : 7/10
Service: 6/10
Ambience : 8/10
Verdict: There are many more interesting things on the menu that I would like try out. Business was brisk so for service-wise, the staff needed us to remind them on our order. Despite all that, I'm glad that it was still a service with a smile. :)
